Alloggiati Web: Guest Registration in Italy, Simply Explained
Anyone hosting guests in Italy must report their data to the police via the Alloggiati Web portal. That costs time and nerves at the reception. The good news: a large part of it can be automated.
What is Alloggiati Web?
Alloggiati Web is the official online portal of the Italian state police through which lodging businesses transmit their guests' data. The report is required by law and must be made within 24 hours of arrival—for stays shorter than 24 hours, within 6 hours of arrival. All binding requirements, deadlines, and the official guide ("Guida Servizio Alloggiati Web") are available in full only directly on the Polizia di Stato portal.
The obligation applies to practically every business hosting guests: hotels, garnis, guesthouses, vacation rentals, and B&Bs.
Which data must be reported
Among other things, guests' names, birth data, and citizenship are transmitted, plus the ID document data of the main guest. For families and groups, the main person's document is sufficient—but the fellow travelers' data is still required.
Important: the business is responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of the report—missing or late reports can lead to penalties. Which data must be transmitted in detail is defined by the official guide on the portal; when in doubt, what it says there always applies.
The manual way—and its pitfalls
